<p>A BungeeCord Minecraft server network is a collection of individual Minecraft servers connected to each other via BungeeCord, allowing you to host different worlds and minigames with out overloading your individual server. </p>

<p>This allows players to seamlessly move between different servers without needing to disconnect and reconnect, creating a more enjoyable and immersive gaming experience. </p>

<p>This article will guide you through the process of creating a BungeeCord Minecraft server network, whether you&#8217;re hosting a server at home or renting a hosted server. And at the end also has a guide on how to connect your servers to the list!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Part 1: Hosting a BungeeCord Minecraft Server Network at Home</h3>

<p>Do you run a hosted server at home? if you dont already you can find out how first on our guide to <a href="https://www.jdogofficial.com/how-to-host-a-minecraft-server-at-home-on-your-pc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title=""><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">hosting your own server</mark></a> or skip to the guide on how to <a href="#connect" title=""><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">create a bungeecord network on a hosted server</mark></a>.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">1. Install Java</h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="480" src="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-1024x480.png" alt="" class="wp-image-6314" srcset="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-1024x480.png 1024w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-300x141.png 300w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-768x360.png 768w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-1536x719.png 1536w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-128x60.png 128w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server-1320x618.png 1320w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/downloading-java-for-bungeecord-server.png 1896w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>To set up a BungeeCord server network, you&#8217;ll first need to have Java installed on your computer. Download and install the latest version of Java from the official website (<a href="https://www.java.com/en/download/">https://www.java.com/en/download/</a>).</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">2. Download BungeeCord</h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="890" height="551" src="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/download-bungeecord.png" alt="" class="wp-image-6315" srcset="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/download-bungeecord.png 890w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/download-bungeecord-300x186.png 300w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/download-bungeecord-768x475.png 768w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/download-bungeecord-97x60.png 97w" sizes="(max-width: 890px) 100vw, 890px" /></figure>

<p>Visit the BungeeCord project page (<a href="https://ci.md-5.net/job/BungeeCord/">https://ci.md-5.net/job/BungeeCord/</a>) and download the latest build by clicking the &#8220;Download&#8221; button.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">3. Create a new folder</h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="134" height="133" src="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-network-folder.png" alt="" class="wp-image-6316" srcset="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-network-folder.png 134w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-network-folder-60x60.png 60w" sizes="(max-width: 134px) 100vw, 134px" /></figure>

<p>Create a new folder on your computer to house the BungeeCord files. Name it something like &#8220;BungeeCord Network&#8221; to help you remember its purpose.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">4. Move the downloaded BungeeCord file</h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="134" height="133" src="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-network-folder2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-6318" srcset="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-network-folder2.png 134w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-network-folder2-60x60.png 60w" sizes="(max-width: 134px) 100vw, 134px" /></figure>

<p>Move the BungeeCord.jar file you downloaded in step 2 to the new folder you created in step 3.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">5. Create a startup script</h4>

<p>In the same folder, create a new text document and rename it &#8220;start.bat&#8221; (for Windows) or &#8220;start.sh&#8221; (for macOS and Linux). Open the file and add the following line:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted"><code>java -Xmx512M -Xms512M -jar BungeeCord.jar</code></pre>

<p>This script will allocate 512MB of RAM to the BungeeCord server. Save the file and close it.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">6. Run the startup script</h4>

<p>Double-click the startup script you created in step 5 to launch BungeeCord. A &#8220;config.yml&#8221; file will be created in the folder.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">7. Configure the BungeeCord server</h4>

<p>Open the &#8220;config.yml&#8221; file in a text editor and configure the settings to match your desired setup. You&#8217;ll need to <a href="#connect" title=""><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">add the details of your individual Minecraft servers</mark></a>, including their IP addresses and ports, to the &#8220;servers&#8221; section of the config.yml file. Save your changes and close the file.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">8. Restart BungeeCord</h4>

<p>To apply the changes you made in step 7, run the startup script again. Your BungeeCord Minecraft server network is now ready!</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Common issues and fixes when hosting a BungeeCord server network at home:</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Issue: Players cannot connect to the server. Fix: Ensure that your server&#8217;s IP address and port are correctly configured in the config.yml file. Check your firewall settings and make sure that the necessary ports are open.</li>

<li>Issue: High latency or lag. Fix: Upgrade your internet connection, if possible. Allocate more RAM to the BungeeCord server by modifying the startup script. Close unnecessary programs running on your computer.</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="connect">How to Connect Servers to Network</h3>

<p>To connect other servers to your BungeeCord network, you need to add their information to the BungeeCord configuration file (config.yml) and configure the individual servers to accept connections from the BungeeCord server. Here&#8217;s how to do that:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="588" src="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config-1024x588.png" alt="" class="wp-image-6323" srcset="https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config-1024x588.png 1024w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config-300x172.png 300w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config-768x441.png 768w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config-330x190.png 330w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config-105x60.png 105w, https://www.jdogofficial.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bungeecord-config.png 1254w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Step 1.</strong> Gather the server information</p>

<p>For each server you want to connect to your BungeeCord network, you&#8217;ll need the following information:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Server name (a unique identifier, e.g., &#8220;lobby&#8221;, &#8220;survival&#8221;, &#8220;creative&#8221;)</li>

<li>IP address</li>

<li>Port number</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Step 2.</strong> Update the BungeeCord config.yml file</p>

<p>Open the &#8220;config.yml&#8221; file located in the main directory of your BungeeCord server. Look for the &#8220;servers&#8221; section and add each of your servers following this format:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted"><strong>servers:
  server_name:
    address: ip_address:port
    restricted: false</strong></pre>

<p>Replace &#8220;server_name&#8221; with the unique identifier you chose, and &#8220;ip_address:port&#8221; with the IP address and port number of the server.</p>

<p>For example:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted"><strong>servers:
  lobby:
    address: 192.168.1.100:25565
    restricted: false
  survival:
    address: 192.168.1.101:25566
    restricted: false
  creative:
    address: 192.168.1.102:25567
    restricted: false</strong></pre>

<p>Save your changes and close the file.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3.</strong> Configure the individual servers</p>

<p>On each server that you want to connect to your BungeeCord network, you need to configure the server.properties file. Open the file and make the following changes:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Set &#8220;online-mode&#8221; to &#8220;false&#8221;. This allows the BungeeCord server to handle player authentication, preventing duplicate logins.</li>

<li>Set &#8220;server-ip&#8221; to the server&#8217;s IP address.</li>

<li>Set &#8220;server-port&#8221; to the server&#8217;s port number.</li>

<li>Save the changes and close the file.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Step 4.</strong> Restart the BungeeCord server and individual servers</p>

<p>Restart your BungeeCord server to apply the changes made to the config.yml file. You can do this by stopping the server and then starting it again using the startup script (e.g., &#8220;start.bat&#8221; or &#8220;start.sh&#8221;).</p>

<p>Additionally, restart each individual server to apply the changes made to their server.properties files.</p>

<p><strong>Step 5.</strong> Verify the connection</p>

<p>Log in to your BungeeCord server using its IP address and port number. You should now be able to move between the connected servers using the <code>/server server_name</code> command, where &#8220;server_name&#8221; is the unique identifier you assigned to each server in the config.yml file.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h3>
